Advantages of shaped saddle pads versus square saddle pads.
Not sure whether to choose a square saddle pad or shaped saddle pad? Mostly choosing a shaped versus square saddle pad comes dow, to personal preference. The shaped saddle pad fits more neatly under the saddle but if you have an oddly shaped saddle you may have some difficulty getting a shaped saddle pad to fit. Alternately, square saddle pads provide plenty of space for you saddle and excess area for monograms or embellishment, but may be slightly warmer for your horse in the summer months. Generally shaped pads are prefered for showing on the flat or hunter under saddle classes, while square pads are more often used in dressage and showjumping.
